Why Converse is Right; Everyone IS a Star.

Converse contends that "everyone is a star". Apparently, they're right.
Or, at least everyone CAN be. I can't help but notice the notoriety people are receiving these days for doing what many of us do everyday-only we do it thanklessly. Bloggers, it seems, are getting their 15 minutes by (literally) watching television all day and then going online and writing to a niche audience about it. In our celebrity obssesed culture, most of those getting paid the most for their opinions are those who blog about celebrity misfortune or speculation (really, Perez Hilton became famous for photoshopping white smears under Lindsay Lohan's nose and offering his opinion on who's gay and who's not). And he's certainly not the only one. While it's become evidently clear how easy it would be to "make a quick buck" with the least amount of effort, I have to ask: Where's the dignity? I mean I've seen one fashion blogger become the new model for Urban Decay's spring campaign! And more recently (yesterday), I read a feature article on Yahoo! news written by a reality show devoted blogger. And these bloggers aren't getting paid "theoretical dollars" (as an episode of South Park suggested online YouTube celebrities do)- they're getting paid real coin- and a pretty good amount. I don't know the figures exactly, but I do know that from his somewhat janky blog site- Perez Hilton now has a (what I'm calling) celebrity commentary show on VH1 and I'm sure it's paying a little better than the day job he never had. I say all this to illuminate that these days everyone CAN be a star, at least for a little while. Because these days being a star is no longer defined only by the amount of money you make but more by how popular you are. So having said all this; STAY TUNED TO MY BLOG FOLKS! CAUSE I WANNA BE A STAR! (Ha!)
